Cellular Jail constructed by Britishers in 1906 located at Port Blair, stands mute witness to the tortures meted out to the freedom fighters, who were incarcerated in this Jail. The Jail, completed in the year 1906 acquired the name ‘cellular’ because it is entirely made up of individual cells for the solitary confinement of the prisoners. Originally it was a seven pronged, puce - colored building with central tower acting as its fulcrum and a massive structure comprising honeycomb like corridors. The jail, now a place of pilgrimage for all freedom loving people, has been declared a National Memorial.

Recapitulating the tortures metted to freedom fighters, who were incarcerated in the Cellular Jail, a son-et-lumier of 55 minutes duration, both in Hindi and English is organized on daily basis in the premises of Cellular jail subject to the weather conditions.
Timing : Daily 05.30 pm to (Hindi), 06.45 pm (English).

This place provides the Adventure and Safe Water Sports facilities for the tourist. Private boats are available from Andaman Water Sports Complex for Coral and Ship wreck view near North Bay.

This beautiful park near to Raj Niwas has facilities like amusement rides, safe water sports, nature trail around the lake, garden, restaurant and historic remains like Japanese Temple as well as Japanese bunker.

This museum near the Directorate of IP&T depicts the life of the Paleolithic Islanders. It also houses the models of the aborigines and their tools.

A sales-cum-display emporium of the Directorate of Industries is located at Middle Point, Port Blair. Souvenirs made of shells as well as wood are available at reasonable prices for purchase.

Once the seat of British power and capital of these Islands. It stands now as a ruin of the bygone days with the old structure almost in debris. A small museum named “Smritika holds photographs and the other antiques of the Britishers relevant to these islands.

Notorious for chain gang punishment, this island was used as open jail for the convicts as well as freedom fighters by the Britishers prior to construction of the Cellular Jail. The Britishers used to harbor convicts here. The first jail was constructed here which was abandoned after the construction of Cellular Jail. It has a gallows a top a hillock, where condemned prisoners were hanged. Sher Ali, who killed Lord Mayo, the Viceroy of India in 1872, was also hanged here.

A picturesque sandy beach, is a part of South Andaman, is accessible by boat from Aberdeen Water Sports Complex, Aberdeen Jetty. The place commands greenery as well as fascinating under water sea life.

The Chatham Saw Mill, one of the oldest and largest Saw Mill in Asia, is built on a tiny Island name Chatham, connected to main Island by a bridge. It is a storehouse of timber like Padauk, Gurjan, Marble, Satin Wood etc. This Island has the second largest wharf of these islands, where Island-mainland ships can berth. The Island is near the Haddo wharf, which is the largest wharf in the Island.

On 13/10/2008, a Chatham Memorial was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lt. Governer, A&N Islands in commemoration of 150 years of arrival of first batch of 200 freedom fighters at Chatham Island on 10/03/1858.

One of the most picturesque sea-beaches, it is ideal for sea bathing and sun-basking, 5 kms by road from Port Blair town.

Around 25 kms drive by road, from here one can visit the islands of Jolly Buoy and Red Skin by boat. This Park comprises of small green uninhabited islands, rich in coral life and crystal clear water.

The entry for the Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Island is regulated by Forest Department, A&N Islands through individual permits.

Accessible by boat, located in the Southern side of South Andaman is Cinque Island. The Island is divided in two parts and linked by each other through a sand bar. The lure of underwater coral life, an unspoiled beaches and rich marine life around the island is irresistible. This Island commands around it few of the best dive destinations. It has clear emerald water with a visibility of upto 80 feet. Ideal place for SCUBA diving, swimming, fishing and camping.

This farm sprawling over an area of 80 acres, conducts research and development programmes for cultivation of spices like cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, coconut and pepper.

Chidiyatapu 25 kms from Port Blair is the southernmost tip of South Andaman. A biological park has been established here by the A&N Forest Department. The lush green mangroves forest cover with numerous chirping birds and the Sylvan Sands and Munda pahar beaches make it an ideal picnic site. The forest guesthouse situated on top of a hillock provides a fabulous view of isolated islands, submerged corals and the breath-taking sunset. Conducted tours are available from Andaman Teal House, Port Blair.

Once the summer head quarters of the erstwhile Chief Commissioners during British Raj, this place is ideal for fascinating distant view of the other islands and the sea. It is the highest peak in the South Andamans. (365 meteres high). One can trek upto Madhuban through a nature trail and can find rare endemic birds, animals and butterflies.

50 kms by Sea(62 kms via Neil Island)
One of the most popular Island for Tourism, about 38 kms from Port Blair by boat, this island provides idyllic resort in the lap of virgin beach and unpolluted environment.

Connected by boat four times a week from Phoenix Bay Jetty, this island offers an excellent sandy beach at Lalaji Bay, unpolluted environment and evergreen forests. The sea around the island is frequented by dolphin convoys. Lalaji Bay, 6 kms away from the boat jetty, is accessible by 15 minutes journey in dinghies or trekking through forest. Dept. of Tourism offer island camping during season.

100 kms by road from Port Blair is famous for lime stone cave, Mud Volcano, Parrot Island and thick mangrove forest, the place is accessible through ATR as well as boat service.

Situated at a distance of 170 kms by road from Port Blair. One can enjoy the quiet village life and solitude of virgin nature here. You can also breathe unpolluted air, a rare commodity for the city dweller. Cuthbert Bay beach (20 kms away from Rangat Bazar) is a turtle nesting ground during December – February season.

Situated in the northern part of Middle Andaman Island, Mayabunder offers excellent scenic beauty and beautiful beaches. Mayabunder has a distinct culture. Karmatang beach is also a turtle nesting ground. One can go to Kalighat through the creek by boat from here. The lagoon cruise is an enchanting experience.
