Cellular Jail - National Memorial
Cellular Jail constructed by Britishers in 1906 located at Port Blair, stands mute witness to the tortures meted out to the freedom fighters, who were incarcerated in this Jail. The Jail, completed in the year 1906 acquired the name ‘cellular’ because it is entirely made up of individual cells for the solitary confinement of the prisoners. Originally it was a seven pronged, puce - colored building with central tower acting as its fulcrum and a massive structure comprising honeycomb like corridors. The jail, now a place of pilgrimage for all freedom loving people, has been declared a National Memorial. Timing : 9.00 am to 12.30 pm / 1.30 pm to 4.15 pm

National Memorial Cellular Jail, Port Blair
Recapitulating the tortures metted to freedom fighters, who were incarcerated in the Cellular Jail, a son-et-lumier of 55 minutes duration, both in Hindi and English is organized on daily basis in the premises of Cellular jail subject to the weather conditions. Once the seat of British power and capital of these Islands. It stands now as a ruin of the bygone days with the old structure almost in debris. Viper Island
Notorious for chain gang punishment, this island was used as open jail for the convicts as well as freedom fighters by the Britishers prior to construction of the Cellular Jail. The Britishers used to harbor convicts here. The first jail was constructed here which was abandoned after the construction of Cellular Jail. It has a gallows a top a hillock, where condemned prisoners were hanged. Sher Ali, who killed Lord Mayo, the Viceroy of India in 1872, was also hanged here. Chatham Saw Mill
The Chatham Saw Mill, one of the oldest and largest Saw Mill in Asia, is built on a tiny Island name Chatham, connected to main Island by a bridge. It is a storehouse of timber like Padauk, Gurjan, Marble, Satin Wood etc. This Island has the second largest wharf of these islands, where Island-mainland ships can berth. The Island is near the Haddo wharf, which is the largest wharf in the Island.
On 13/10/2008, a Chatham Memorial was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lt. Governer, A&N Islands in commemoration of 150 years of arrival of first batch of 200 freedom fighters at Chatham Island on 10/03/1858. Timing : Daily 8.00 am - 3.00 pm. Sunday Closed.

Around 25 kms drive by road, from here one can visit the islands of Jolly Buoy and Red Skin by boat. This Park comprises of small green uninhabited islands, rich in coral life and crystal clear water.
The entry for the Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Island is regulated by Forest Department, A&N Islands through individual permits.

Accessible by boat, located in the Southern side of South Andaman is Cinque Island. The Island is divided in two parts and linked by each other through a sand bar. Chidiyatapu 25 kms from Port Blair is the southernmost tip of South Andaman. A biological park has been established here by the A&N Forest Department. The forest guesthouse situated on top of a hillock provides a fabulous view of isolated islands, submerged corals and the breath-taking sunset. Once the summer head quarters of the erstwhile Chief Commissioners during British Raj, this place is ideal for fascinating distant view of the other islands and the sea. It is the highest peak in the South Andamans. (365 meteres high). One can trek upto Madhuban through a nature trail and can find rare endemic birds, animals and butterflies.
